Tonight at the church planting conference our team attended, the worship leader of the evening led us into a very different kind of worship experience. Inspired by the example of the worship offered by God's creation, the trees and the stars, we entered into a time of worship in complete silence.

We gathered around the throne of God in silence, offering no words, no thoughts to hide behind, no nervous speech to fill the moments.

I had forgotten how difficult it is to be silent before God--to simply stop talking in the midst of a crowd of people, and hold my silence.

What a blessing to approach our heavenly Father, knowing that we are accepted by Him because of what Jesus did on our behalf. What a blessing to sit, silent, before Him and simply know that He is God.

Silence.
